Different perspectives, different interpretations, different expectations; so, you really can’t pinpoint what women’s empowerment truly is.

Finding their voice and speaking up

Empowerment gives women the freedom to find their inner-voice and speak up. It gives them the power to voice their opinions openly and without fear or prejudice. Women’s empowerment in a true sense is breaking free from the shackles of age-old patriarchy and enforced rules and regulations.

 Freedom to interact socially

With empowerment, women get the freedom to interact socially of their own free will. Their expressions; both physical and verbal are only expressions of their thoughts and not invitations for invading their space. They get the freedom to interact with men ,women, children and adults. It gives them the freedom to go places of their own free will without fear of being attacked or assaulted.

Freedom to choose their own individuality

Women’s empowerment gives women the freedom to choose their own life paths. They have the freedom to become career women or home makers. They have the freedom to dress in whatever attire they feel comfortable in, without judgement. Women get the power to make their own choices in all areas of their life; be it academics, career, finance, grooming or self-growth. It gives them the freedom to choose their own friends or inner circle without being criticized. It gives them a chance to be in charge of their own life.

Responsibility & Accountability for their choices

Empowerment brings responsibility & accountability to women for their choices irrespective of its outcome. Whether a choice gets them glory or brings them brickbats, they have to take responsibility and accountability. If freedom to make choices is important, so is responsibility and accountability associated with it.

Women’s empowerment is a bittersweet pill that paves path ways for women to grow and succeed and at the same time makes them accountable for the outcome.

Women’s empowerment needs to be understood with maturity and implemented with responsibility.

We at AwareRaho believe that empowerment is all about freedom to take charge of your own life by deciding the right course of action. It means taking responsibility and accountability for those actions. It is also important to note that no Woman can be empowered until the time she does not wish to; from with-in and on the outside. Society can empower a woman only by giving her an opportunity to grow holistically in all spheres of life. Women can be truly called empowered when they can bring about a balance between personal & professional life, individual & social life. Adapting the new, whilst leaving behind the old and the important or the good is not empowerment; it is regression.
